Scilla

I got this Scilla violacea from a neighbour in Melaka. It's a very easy species to grow, a clump will form in no time if it is given enough water and nutrients.

This plant grows and offsets quickly, so a specimen will quickly fill its pot with roots. If the plant is not transplanted every so often, it will turn into a mass of small, stunted bulbs.

Although my specimens have not flowered, I've seen specimens in Cameron Highlands flower, at Cactus Valley. I don't change pots often enough for mine to grow to their full potential.

This is the same specimen in April and May 2001. The older pictures are from May 1999 to September 1999. This represents about 2 years of non-ideal growth. The soil was often dry so optimal growth was not achieved.
