This is a Caralluma dummeri specimen. It has soft stems. I used to have a reasonably healthy specimen, but it died and I have not managed to root the few odd stems that I have left.
Anyway, the flowers are not that great, so I would rather give this a miss than have it as a potential source of bugs. Scale insects rather like this species.

This is a Caralluma luntii specimen. It has been dormant for many months. My guess is that the plastic pot is drying out too fast.
Another Caralluma. The picture at left shows the plant in bloom. The flowers are rather small, though. This plant is certainly not on my best-of list. In the pictures below, some stems have a sickly reddish colour. I believe those stems are about to rot.
