Caution! The following may seem to be an endorsement of certain nurseries, but be aware that it only applies to the plants. It is not an endorsement of their business reputation. I do not have experience dealing with them from a business-to-business point of view. Please exercise caution if you want to buy wholesale, especially if it involves import and export (including within Malaysia.)

Please read this page on the C&S Industry in Malaysia to get a proper perspective of things before reading the rest of this page. That page also contains a summary on how to buy C&S plants in Malaysia.

Cacti and Succulents Nurseries in Malaysia

There are a number of large cacti and succulent nurseries in Cameron Highlands, a hill resort in the middle of West Malaysia. I have a few pages describing my observations (and pictures) of nurseries in Cameron Highlands at the following location:

This nursery probably has the best private collection in Malaysia:

Cactus Valley, Pekan Lama, 39100 Brinchang, Cameron Highlands. Tel: +60 5 4915640, +60 5 4915641.

Other cactus retailers situated on the hill resort are:

Cactus Point, 39100 Brinchang, Cameron Highlands. (Situated a few miles further up from Brinchang, just before the Equatorial hotel.)

Uncle Sam Farm, 39100 Brinchang, Cameron Highlands. (Situated opposite Cactus Point.)

Rainbow Gardens, Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands. (About 1km up from Tanah Rata, has very nice roses as well.)

There is supposed to be another nursery a little further down the hill resort (at Ringlet) but I haven't been there so I cannot confirm it.

Cactus Point and Uncle Sam Farm [sic] have the cheapest plants. Small 2" pots go for as low as RM10 for 6 pots (about USD2.50). But don't miss Cactus Valley, their display plants are by far the best.

Specialist Nurseries not in Cameron Highlands

One of the better distributors of cacti and succulents in KL is:

Shalon Greens Service Centre, LG12, S&M Shopping Arcade, Jalan Cheng Lock, 50000 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Tel: +60 3 201 0579.

Shalons is a specialist distibutor. The proprietor knows his stuff, his plants are healthy and the variety is excellent. I believe he has a farm in Sungai Buloh, so I consider him a specialist nursery retailer. I also bought quite a few plants from this nursery in Melaka:

Cacti Land Horticultural Centre, Lot KG5A, Ground Floor, Mahkota Parade, Jalan Merdeka, 75000 Melaka, Malaysia. Tel: +60 6 282 5080.

Agricultural Parks with C&S

Taman Pertanian Malaysia (Malaysia Agricultural Park) is an agro-forestry park. It is also known as Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam Agricultural Park. It occupies a scenic 1,290 hectare site in Shah Alam, Selangor, less than 30 minutes from the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. It has a climate-controlled area which mimics temperate climate conditions, including winter. It also has a cactus garden (I have not verified this myself, but apparently there is one.)
