Haworthia cymbiformis

This species is easy to grow once you get the hang of it. I use a layer of pure gravel on top so that soil doesn't come into contact with the leaves of the plant. You can also grow the plant in gravel alone. However, for faster growth, a layer of soil can help with bringing nutrients to its roots. Other Haworthias can be found on this page: Haworthia Page.

Pictures of flower stalks of a Haworthia cymbiformis plant are shown on this page. More pictures can be found on Page 2. This plant started to bloom about Jan 2000; I've owned it for at least a year prior to that.

This is a picture taken when I first noticed the flower stalk coming out.

The pair of pictures above were taken almost exactly 2 months after the first picture, in March 2000.

These two pictures are of the same plant and flower stalk. The picture at right shows the flower stalk in detail. Unfortunately, the flowers of the Haworthia cymbiformis plant aren't very showy. I haven't any success in getting seeds from the flowers.

On Page 2, another flower stalk was photographed, this one in May 2000.
