Caralluma

This is a Caralluma with a dark stem (in bright sunlight). It was growing poorly until I put the pot on a tray so that it soaks longer after being watered. Around early 2000 it started to flower. The flowers are quite small, less than 0.5" in size.

The pictures above were taken in September 1999. That time the flower didn't quite open properly. Perhaps the plant hadn't really gotten into the mood of things yet. The pictures below were taken in June 2000.

No seed pods have been produced. I have not tried artificial pollination.
