Coryphantha

This is a remnant from my 1997 batch of seeds, from SuccSeed. It is a Coryphantha sulcata. For a 3 year old plant it is still quite small, due to bad care. I usually keep it in a plastic propagator so that the pot does not dry out too quickly.

Apparently, this species produces some sort of sweet juice that attracts ants. Because of that, the plant pictured above is frequently infested with bugs -- usually ants or white flies. The plant also produces a lot of offsets.

For the moment it is alive, and I might still manage to make something of it.
